Royal Irish Academy of Music High Achiever's Awards Ceremony

Congratulations to our young student Defne Gultoprak who has been selected from 1 of 500 students throughout the Dublin Region for her excellent performance at her RIAM piano exam in May 2011 at our Ongar Centre which is now an official centre for the RIAM. Defne will perform at the RIAM's Awards Ceremony as a soloist on 27th November at the Shelbourne Hotel. After the concert, Defne will be presented with a High Achiever Award by the Director of the RIAM. Defne has been in CSM's Mini Music Academy since she was 2 yrs old. Defne started piano at 4 years and quickly developed a fine technique demonstrating great skill for such a young age. We congratulate Defne and her family wholeheartedly and hope they have a super day on the 27th.

Prizes & Awards May 2009

Congratulations to all our performers at CSM'S annual concert held on Thursday 21st May 2009 at Blanchardstown Library. Mr. Anthony Byrne, our adjudicator on the night, was very complimentary towards the excellent standard and warmly praised the wonderful work that is being achieved by our team of dedicated teachers. He also commended our school's philosophy of developing in our students an overall love of music. Mr. Byrne felt this was clearly transmitted at the concert by students, parents and teachers who were in high spirits and full of enthusiasm.Mr. Byrne, concert pianist, lecturer and piano teacher at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, made the following awards to our students:

Senior Student of the Year was awarded to Aoife Gibney (Age 16) for vocal performance. Aoife was also Very Highly Commended in the Under 18 Solo Voice Competition in this year's Feis Ceoil. Ellen's voice teacher is Mr. Paul Kelly. (CSM)

Senior Student of the Year Runner-Up was awarded to Catherine King (Age 17) for Solo Piano. Catherine was also commended in the Under 18 Solo Piano Competition at Newpark Feis this year. Catherine's teacher is Mr. Jonathan Johnston. (CSM)

Junior Student of the Year was awarded to Evan Magee (Age 10) for Solo Piano Performance. Evan also received First Prize in the Under 10 Solo Piano Competition at this year's Newpark Feis. As part of his prize, Evan performed in the NCH on Sunday 24th May 2009. Evan's piano teacher is Mr. David Moriarty (CSM)

Junior Student of the Year Runner-Up was awarded again to Rachel Armstrong (Age 9) for Solo Piano Performance. Rachel also received 2nd Prize in the Under 10 Solo Piano Competition at Newpark Feis this year. Rachel's piano teacher is Ms. Eileen Brogan (Director / CSM)

Piano Duets Award: A joint award was presented to: Laura & Rachel Armstrong and Rachel & Rebecca Armstrong. Their teacher is Ms. Eileen Brogan (Director / CSM)

Senior Student Runner-Up 2008 was awarded to Alan Lau (Age 14) for performance in Piano and for overall committment to music studies throughout the year. Alan's piano teacher at CSM is Ms. Trini Armstrong.
